When Laura suffered from hair loss as a result of her treatment for cancer, she was very fortunate to receive a wig from The Little Princess Trust, which she sometimes wore for special occasions.
But for days to day activities, her grandma Carol made lots of different hats for Laura, such as beanie hats and baseball caps. These were lovingly adapted, sometimes having a plait or other pieces of hair sewn into them.
Laura loved wearing these hats and this is what inspired us to offer similar head coverings to other cancer patients. However we no longer make these ourselves and leave this to the experts! We work with ‘Headscarves by Ciara’ and the full range of their products can be found on their website www.headscarvesbyciara.co.uk

We know how difficult it can be to have to stay in the hospital wards for long periods of time. To help to raise the spirits of children and their families, we provide the children’s cancer ward with comfort items, such as super cozy hooded dressing gowns, colourful blankets, fluffy socks, amusing slippers, hats and basically anything soft and cuddly!
Each year we take 200 gift bags for the children, visiting the hospital 5 times a year, these contain items such as craft kits and colouring books to help keep them entertained, and also other treats such as sweets and fidgit toys.
We also take Costa Coffee and Starbucks vouchers to the hospital throughout the year to enable parents and carers to have a little time to themselves off the ward, which we have been told is really appreciated. We always work closely with Young Lives vs Cancer who distribute the gifts on our behalf and we follow their suggestions as to what the most pressing needs are so that we can help in these areas.

This year we are currently in the process of arranging Christmas entertainment for children on the cancer ward which is an exciting new development for us.
We are also providing funding for a siblings outing, as a cancer diagnosis has a devastating impact on the whole family and we want to help as much as possible.
If you would like to help us with our mission, we would love to hear from you.
